About Us

In grade two Helen Billett’s drawing of a happy little bird, a cheerful flower and a buzzing bumblebee was selected as the cover art for her primary school’s Spring Concert program.  A lifelong love of art and design began. 

After earning an Honours Degree in Visual Art from the University of Western Ontario, Helen found employment at one of the leading galleries for contemporary art in Canada, Wynick/Tuck Gallery.  Here she discovered that being surrounded daily by art and beautiful, inspiring things was a joy she could never live without.  A course of study at the International Academy of Design in Digital Media provided Helen with the skills to freelance professionally on many varied and exciting projects. Eventually Helen accepted a position at chapters.indigo.ca as Senior Web Designer.

Helen has characteristically responded to the happiest events in her life with art and design.  She designed the invitations to her own wedding and makes art to adorn the rooms of her two children.  After the birth of her second child, Helen left chapters.indigo.ca to take on her most challenging role yet: Stay-at-Home Mum.  Upon an overwhelming need for a creative outlet she carved out a studio for herself in the basement of her small Upper Beaches home.  A cozy little corner next to the furnace.  Then she made a trip to Ikea, bought a sexy new iMac, painted the den sangria red and deemed it her office.    No-one multi-tasks better than a Stay-at-Home Mum.

All roads have lead to the inception of Meringue Inc., dishing up a range of Giclée prints on canvas and fine art paper.

At the ooey-gooey, sweet and fluffy core of Meringue Inc. rests the belief that art for children doesn’t need to be all about yellow duckies.  It can be cool, visually challenging and as complex and sophisticated as children are today.  We have faith that filling the world with beautiful, inspiring things can only make it a better, more friendly place to be.
